An inspiring and uplifting evening of stories, poetry and song reflecting on finding hope after the very worst has happened.Farid Ahmed (New Zealand Order of Merit) was paralysed after being struck by a car in Nelson in the 1990s and was present for the Mosque Attacks in Outautahi Christchurch, in which his wife was killed.
Iafeta Matalasi’s son was killed in gang violence.
Years later, Iafeta went on to meet with his son’s killer in a restorative justice process.
Both will speak about their experiences, and their journeys to hope and forgiveness.
The evening will be interspersed with music and poetry reflecting on this theme.
The event is hosted by Restorative Justice Nelson to celebrate 25 years of Restorative Justice Nelson. As a community organisation restorative justice wants to celebrate with the local community and honour their support of this work, and as such the event is free of cost - REGISTRATION ESSENTIAL
