Welcome to the Afrofuturist Femmes Film Festival!
Come join us at the Greekton Hollywood Casino Hotel in Detroit, MI as we're living out our ancestors' wildest dreams. This festival is created to showcase the rich Afrofuturist work created by femmes in the African Diaspora. It will take place as part of the National Microloan Conference.
Returning to the festival curator's hometown, we will capture the richness of the diaspora and amplify the voices of the diverse stories of femmes filmmakers and creatives from all over the world, that lie within Afrofuturism cinema. This includes the genres of Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Thriller, and others containing Afrofuturist elements.
This will be a widely attended event by industry professionals, elected officials, scholars, and more, and will be a great opportunity to network.
The Festival is put on by MacKenzie K. Galloway, Owner of Conscious Creations Films and a Matriarchal Afrofuturism student at Howard University. The inaugural 2024 festival was held in Washington, D.C.
Light refreshments will be served. Meals will be available for purchase.
