Saturday 17th September 10:00 - 13:30 in Studio B, AMATA, Penryn.
In this workshop, Mariana will teach styles from the high energy street dance moves of samba reggae to the powerful symbolic dances of the Orixas, archetypes rooted in human experience and connection with nature.
Sunday 18th September 12:00 - 14:00 at Marazion beach
You will then have the opportunity to dance together the movements of Yemanja, Goddess of the Sea, with feet in the ocean at Marazion, with live drumming from Dakadoum
Cost: £20 for 3 hour workshop. Sunday performance at Marazion is included.
AL LEVELS WELCOME, NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Mariana has created a network of organisations and Brazilian-inspired groups in dance, costume and production. In Brazil, she worked and performed with Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel, Porto da Pedra and performed with Maracatu, Afoxes and Samba groups from Pernambuco to Salvador and Rio. Her incredible energy and charisma and her deep roots in the meaning of the movements combine to make her an inspiring teacher and a permanent feature at Notting Hill carnival and WOMAD festival amongst many others.
