
AFRICAN BEATS FESTIVAL 2023 11-13 August
We invite you to the next edition of the African Beats Festival - it is an event dedicated to African music and culture as well as openness and tolerance. Ahead of us there is one of the most charming world music festivals in Poland!!!
At the festival we will hear the biggest stars of African world music and Afrobeat. There will also be performances by artists from Poland who derive from African sources in their music. At the African Beats Festival you will also take part in music workshops film meetings and travellers' meetings. You will find exhibitors with fashion and African handicrafts you will taste the flavours of unique foods and after the concerts you will sit around bonfires to listen to the desert songs.

The grounds of the Dworek pod Wiechą in Kawęczyn.
These are extremely charming places inextricably linked to Polish folk culture. The manor house is located in the village of Kawêczyn 30 km from Warsaw in a southerly direction and occupies an area of 10ha. In the immediate vicinity of the Chojnowski Landscape Park among the picturesque orchards of the Mazovian land the Dworek Pod Wiechą building has been perfectly integrated into the fabulous landscape. In addition a huge green space ideal for a music festival!

Visit the Afrykamera Film Zone where you can watch a selection of the best African films. Comfortable loungers a large LED screen and movies that will transport you to the heart of the African interior. The film selection is curated by the Afrykamera African Film Festival.

Join the Travel Zone during the African Beats Festival. Travelers will share their stories of journeys across the Black Land. They will show photos films and sound recordings. Get ready for incredible stories full of twists and turns along with beautiful images.

Thomas Guei will be conducting djembe drumming workshops at two levels: beginner and intermediate-advanced. Thomas is one of the best contemporary djembefolas who has taken djembe music to a new level with his incredible speed technique energy and unique musical language. His amazing talent and hard work have earned him fans from all over the world and he has traveled across Europe South America and Asia conducting workshops and performances.

? AFRICAN DANCE WORKSHOPS ?
Viola Wojciechowska will lead dance workshops at the African Beats Festival 2023! Under her guidance we will learn choreography to one of the West African rhythms while also working on agility body openness and movement precision. The classes will be accompanied by live music performed by skilled musicians on djembe and dundun drums allowing us to better understand the rhythm of the dance.

Exhibitors with African handicrafts. African food zone drinks and goods of all kinds. Cosmetics clothing and jewellery. A unique and inimitable assortment will be provided by more than 40 exhibitors the full list of which will be announced soon. The African Market will be a great attraction at our Festival.

?♂ MEDITATION & YOGA ?♂
Yoga and Meditation classes on Saturday and Sunday mornings will be led by Beata Latos owner of B-less-ed yoga in Bieszczady.
A space to come together in a movement that guides the breath. Yoga is a massage of love you give yourself which results in a relaxed and blissful body and a crisp and calm mind.
In the yoga practice led by Beata you will find space for both following your intuition lightness and gentleness as well as strength grounding and determination. During the class you will experience interwoven stretching and strengthening sequences in the Vinyasa Slow Flow style. The yoga practice will conclude with a meditation session.
☀ AFRICAN ECSTATIC DANCE ☀
Ecstatic Dance is a movement and dance practice in which we surrender ourselves to joyful authentic and spontaneous movement. You invite your body to move relax stretch play improvise and express freely building a special relationship with your own body. It's a practice that supports the free expression of oneself and one's emotions. It allows you to release your wildness.
Facilitator: Sławomir Gęściak - Dancer Practitioner and Teacher of Conscious Bodywork. He has completed Process-Oriented Psychology Dance and Movement Therapy at the Polish Institute of DMT. He is a certified Therapist in Silent Spiritual Family Constellations. He is a Master NLP practitioner certified Coach and Trainer.
? FIRE ZONE ?
This is a zone that will envelop us throughout the festival with a relaxing and therapeutic aura where you can have not only a solid rest but also a deep journey into yourself. During the day with the sounds of natural frequency instruments you can spend quality time with loved ones and get comfortable in silence or in conversation while still enjoying the richness of the entire festival as the zone is laid out in the centre of African Beats Festival.
On the other hand the magic of the place will be most evident in the evenings when the glow of the fire will bring us together in a circle at which everyone will find their space of creation to discover inner richness. And by definition everyone has it so if we can reach for it we will create a wonderful harmony. We will be accompanied by experienced musicians and vocalists who with their talents will introduce us to the world of sound where we can stay throughout the African Beats festival.
�We cordially invite you to our Fire Zone to find your own peace and balance. If you have your own instruments at home - bring them with you. This is the place where you can practice playing singing dancing or a good meditation of being "here and now" in the very breath.
? FIRE SHOW ?
Fire dance shows will be performed on Saturday during the headliner concerts. The shows will be executed by the WIR - Artist Collective group. The combination of fire and beautiful music will elevate the concert experience to an even higher level!
⛺ CAMPSITE ⛺
A special area designated for tent camping. We provide a beautiful and picturesque surroundings access to the gastronomic zone and all festival attractions. The campsite is fully equipped with sanitary facilities including hot showers sinks and clean toilets. Campers and cars are allowed to enter the campsite and tents can be pitched right next to the vehicle. There's enough space for everyone! This is a ticket that allows you to enter the Festival grounds on Friday from 3:00 p.m. It allows you to take part in all the activities planned for the entire 2 days of the Festival and stay there until Sunday 3:00 p.m. It also gives you priority in occupying and choosing your spot in the camping area.

⭐ ORCHESTRA BAOBAB (Senegal)
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the formation of one of the greatest African bands Senegal's Orchestra Baobab. Beloved in Senegal and around the world Orchestra Baobab holds a special place in the history of African music. Their epic story began in the heart of Dakar's Medina in the 1960s and extends worldwide into the 21st century encompassing a brilliant fusion of diverse musical personalities and a unique blend of Afro-Latin styles international pop West African griot music and the atmospheric rhythms of late-night clubs that move you to dance.
⭐ SEUN KUTI & EGYPT80 (Nigeria)
Seun Kuti is the youngest son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti. He has spent most of his life preserving and expanding his father's political and musical legacy as the leader of his father's former band Egypt 80. Kuti was born in early 1983. He showed an interest in his father's music from the age of five and started opening Fela's concerts at the age of nine singing a select group of songs with Egypt 80 before his father took the stage. As a developing saxophonist and percussionist he officially joined the band's ranks before turning 12. Fela passed away in 1997 and Seun fulfilling his father's wishes took up the mantle as the leader of Egypt 80 a position he holds to this day.
⭐ NEWEN AFROBEAT (Chile)
Newen Afrobeat is a 13-piece Chilean orchestra that creates music inspired by the legacy of Nigerian musician Fela Kuti. With a distinctive Latin touch Newen combines African rhythms with colorful and energetic performances rooted in a deep social message that speaks about their roots and social movements in their country.
⭐ TARWA N-TINIRI (Morocco)
Tarwa N-Tiniri which means "sons of the desert" in the Amazigh language hails from the southern city of Ouarzazate in Morocco. They are inspired by bands like Tinariwen Tamikrest and Bombino and their goal as young musicians is to become a recognized band playing desert blues worldwide. Their songs are written in the Amazigh language and feature handclaps acoustic and electric guitars percussion the gourd instrument and bass. Their music conveys the social message of the nomads of their homeland. Tarwa N-Tiniri's music has its roots in traditional Amazigh sounds while also incorporating jazz reggae and most notably the unique sound of desert blues.
⭐ TIKOUBAOUINE (Algeria)
Tikoubaouine originally hails from the town of "Tamanrasset" and belongs to an ethnic group known as the "Tuaregs" also called the "Blue People" descendants of the indigenous Berbers of North Africa. Their music is known as "Desert Blues" a musical style originating from the Sahara region in North and West Africa combining elements of electric blues folk music and African rhythms. Some argue that their roots form the foundations of American blues.
⭐ ABLAYE BADJI BAND (Senegal/Poland)
Ablaye Badji is a multi-instrumentalist and a member of the famous griot family - Cissoko. In West African societies griots serve as cultural ambassadors who carry cultural knowledge and people's identity.
⭐ CITY BUM BUM ENSEMBLE (Poland)
CBB Ensemble is an international collective and the longest-running Polish band specializing in African music enriched with elements of world music ethno and jazz. Traditional trance rhythms from Guinean villages played on djembe and dundun drums intertwine with ancient lyrical compositions from Mali and Senegal arranged in a modern way by incorporating instruments such as koras hang drums percussion trumpet and electric guitars. Each concert is a true volcano of energy and a feast of colors that blur the line between musicians and the audience.
⭐ THE OVERVIEW EFFECT (Poland)
The Overview Effect (OvE) is a band formed by musicians from Ostrzeszów and the surrounding area. They will serve us a dynamic and atmospheric blend of afrobeat jazz and funk. In spring 2021 their first album "Without Territory" was released under Fonoradar Records. In 2022 the band was busy with a concert tour and recording their second album. Their new single "Astana" announces the upcoming album titled "Geography and Geometry".
⭐ THE AFRONAUTS (Poland/Morocco/South Africa)
The Afronauts are one of the best Afrobeat bands in Poland! The group consists of seven musicians from different parts of the world captivating listeners from the first sound. The band combines the best elements of funk jazz and African music. Their arrangements heat up the stage. The Afronauts landed in Krakow in January 2019 astonishing the audience that was not prepared for such a powerful dose of energy. The band's mission is to spread good vibes and blur the boundaries between the stage and the audience. Currently the repertoire includes core Afrobeat hits by creators from Nigeria Mali and Ghana as well as original compositions.
⭐ PS CULTURAL CONCEPT feat KANDARA DIEBATE (Poland/Senegal)
The music of this formation is primarily composed by Przemysław Strączek the leader and guitarist who leads intercultural projects based on the idea that creative and innovative musical activities bring people together even from distant corners of the world creating a new quality in musical culture. Cultural Concept is precisely the concept that combines ethnic elements from different countries in the realm of improvised music jazz elements and ethno music where each musician has their own space for free expression. The special guest of this exceptional band is Senegalese musician and vocalist Kandara Diebate. The musician playing a traditional African instrument appears alongside Polish jazz instrumentalists.
