As part of Black History Month coming up, the Americus Visitor Center will offer its African-American Heritage Tour on two Saturdays in February - Feb. 8 and Feb. 15. The hourlong tour starts at 10 a.m. aboard the Americus Trolley and begins at the Visitor Center, 101 W. Lamar St. downtown. Highlights include the old Americus Institute on North Lee Street; Eastview Cemetery; Campbell Chapel AME Church; Americus Colored Hospital; Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church; and other sites with links to the city's rich African-American history.
