Explore insights from Crafting Lives: African American Artisans in New Bern, North Carolina 1777–1900, written by Catherine Bishir. The book documents the lives and legacies of Black artisans in New Bern who helped shape and build downtown New Bern.This lecture will spotlight the Tryon Palace Inclusive Public Art Project funded by a grant from the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation. Join us for an opportunity to learn more about the project and to engage with the project’s featured artists: Georgie Nakima, Marcus Kiser and Stephen Hayes.
