About this Event
This worship service is a part of the program for the American Guild of Organists 2024 National Convention headquartered in San Francisco from June 30 to July 4, 2024. This program features the organ within the context of worship and is open to the public; tickets are not required.
This jubilant service will be in the tradition of the African-American church experience. This service will be eclectic in nature featuring the use of the organ in the rich tradition of music in the Black church from Classical to Gospel music. You will not want to miss this rich once-in-a-lifetime experience, which includes a commissioned piece: Psalm 23 by Eurydice Osterman, and organists W. Patrick Alston and Stephen C. Price.
W. Patrick Alston currently serves as the worship music consultant for New Shiloh Baptist Church in Baltimore. He is also a staff organist at the Sligo Seventh Day Adventist Church, where he was recently honored for 15 years of service.
Stephen C. Price recently joined the music faculty at the University of Washington (Seattle) as the inaugural Paul B. Fritts Faculty Fellow and Artist-in-Residence in organ performance. He previously held the position of Assistant Teaching Professor in music (organ) at Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana.
