About this Event
We continue with our theme from last year: “Uplifting the African Diaspora through the Cultural Arts.” November's program will focus on R&B and Funk music. We will feature excerpts from several films that explore this genre. We will also have a panel consisting of R&B musicians and a scholar of Funk (and many other things). Our panelists are:
- Maggie Brown: vocalist, songwriter, and producer
- Joan Collaso: Emmy award winning international vocalist
- Kweku Larry Crowe: History Makers interviewer, artist, and historian
- Larry Hanks: Pianist, educator, songwriter, conductor, musical director
This will be a hybrid event, and will be held at the Carruthers Center for Inner City Studies and online via Zoom.
