In the scheme of things—just how important is it?
In 1946, when Dane Rudhyar first published his benchmark work The Lunation Cycle, Sun sign astrology was little more than a decade old. And while the value of the lunation cycle and the progressed lunation cycle was immediately recognized by the astrological world, it would be some time before the ‘birth phase’ was thought to add value to natal interpretation.
Modern popular astrology has certainly caught up with Rudhyar, but somewhere along the way, the very essence of the phase has merged into something closer to Moon sign astrology. The whole significance of the lunar phase is based on the relationship between the Sun and Moon, and their celestial dance, which, when divided by the magic of the number 8 (the 8th harmonic), gives us the 8 phases, and it is into one of these phases that each and every one of us is born.
This is an open discussion, a chance to discuss your personal Moon phase or how you have observed the birth phase working in natal charts, and just how much sway it has in the scheme of things.
