About this Event
Join us for an evening of reflection, purpose, and community as Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity presents, “Foundations for the Future,” in recognition of World Habitat Day.
We are pleased to welcome #1 New York Times bestselling author and nationally respected speaker Clint Smith as our keynote guest. Through powerful storytelling and thoughtful reflection, Clint will explore the meaning of home, the lessons of history, and the role strong communities play in shaping opportunity for generations to come.
At Central SC Habitat, we build opportunity. This event marks a bold step forward in our 40-year legacy of building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter and a celebration of the momentum we’re carrying into the future.
For four decades, we’ve partnered with future homeowners, hardworking individuals and families who are motivated to build better lives for themselves and their loved ones. We do not give away houses. Instead, Habitat homeowners invest sweat equity and pay an affordable mortgage, gaining the tools they need to build strength, stability, and long-term self-sufficiency.
This evening is for everyone who believes in the power of home, community members, housing advocates, faith partners, students, donors, and volunteers and for anyone who believes in strong communities, equal opportunity, and empowering hardworking families to build a better future.
About World Habitat Day:
Observed annually on the first Monday in October and established by the United Nations, World Habitat Day serves as a global reminder that everyone deserves a safe, decent, and affordable place to call home. It calls us to reflect on housing as a basic human right and a cornerstone of strong, stable communities. Homeownership and thriving neighborhoods go hand in hand, and for many families, owning a home is a vital step toward long-term security, opportunity, and generational stability.
