About this Event

Purpose

Celebrate the 77th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted by the UN General Assembly in Paris, France on 10 December 1948.

  • Affirming the continued relevance of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights -- 77 years later these rights continue to be denied or are under attack around the world, including in our own country.
  • Affirming that human rights are a moral and spiritual issue.
  • Calling on the faith leaders of the Rochester community to act: educating their congregants about the moral and spiritual issues and encouraging their action to defend the rights of all people to be safe and able to thrive.

  3. Interfaith Leaders Speak:
    - Rev. Kara Wagner Sherer, Episcopal Bishop of Rochester
    - Rev. Sandra Hasenauer, Exec. Minister of American Baptist Churches of Rochester/Genesee Region
    - Rev. Sebrone 0. Johnson, pastor of Greater Harvest Church
    - Chris Phillips, Blooming Lilac Sangha, a community of Mindfulness Living in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh
