Come to Galway City Library on Saturday 20 December at 12:00 (midday) when harpist Kathleen Loughnane will give a brief history of the journey of the Irish harp through the ages. She will perform music by harpers of the 17th and 18th centuries, as well as some newer pieces. Kathleen Loughnane co-founded the group Dordán with Mary Bergin and Dearbhaill Standún. Together they recorded 4 albums. Their mix of Irish and Baroque music won them RTE's National Entertainment Award for Traditional Music in 1993. Since then Kathleen has recorded another 6 albums in her own name. She has taught and performed at major festivals throughout Europe, Japan and the US, and has for many years been closely involved with the work of Cairde na Cruite, Cruit Éireann, and Scoil Samhradh Willie Clancy.
