Rush fans, mark your calendars!Acclaimed tribute band A Farewell to Kings (AF2K) is set to bring Power Windows to life like never before-performing the iconic 1985 album front to back at three special Northeast performances this October.
The shows will feature Power Windows in full-live, uninterrupted, and played with the reverence, precision, and technical wizardry that have made AF2K one of the most respected Rush tribute acts going. To match the album's iconic production, drummer Johnny Vines will be performing on an electronic kit-recreating the sounds and textures that defined an era of Rush's evolution.
Additionally, unique to this show only, Donna Halper will be sharing her thoughts and perspective on Power Windows, Rush in the 80s, and music during 1985 in an exclusive interview with AF2K prior to the second set!
About Donna: Donna Halper spent over four decades in broadcasting, including more than 28 years as a radio programming and management consultant, working with both college and commercial stations, all over North America. Prior to becoming a consultant, she spent thirteen years as an announcer, music director and assistant program director in four major markets. In addition to her long career in radio, she is well-known for discovering the rock band Rush, who dedicated their first two albums to her. She is seen in the 2010 documentary about them, “Beyond the Lighted Stage,” and is seen in a 2020 Fantoons music video commemorating the 40th anniversary of the song “Spirit of Radio.”
Longtime fans know: Power Windows marked a turning point for Rush-layered with synths, charged with Cold War anxieties, and packed with complex rhythms and lyrical precision. It's a record that never got its full due in the live arena. Until now.
Known for their obsessive attention to detail, AF2K channels the spirit of Rush with stunning accuracy-right down to every pedal, patch, and Peart fill. With a lineup of seasoned musicians and a shared love for the music they honor, the band has earned a loyal following among Rush purists and newcomers alike.
