About this Event

Nuyorican poet pioneer Tato Laviera is well-known for his artistic contribution to the literary canon, but Tato really got his start working for various community organizations on the Lower East Side where he championed his Loisaida family.

This program will feature a screening of CENTRO's documentary, AmeRican, directed by Vivian Hernandez-Ortiz, followed by a discussion with artists and activists who worked with Tato.

In partnership with the Tato Laviera Foundation, the Loisaida Center and CENTRO.
