Join us as we adventure through local history with the help of our friends at First State Heritage Park! For each event, we'll meet at 1:00pm at the John Bell House - 43 The Green, Dover DE 19901. Each event has a different topic and age requirement. Please be sure to read event descriptions thoroughly and register for each applicable event individually; please use a valid email, as important information will be sent out prior to each event.June 18 - Growing Up in the 18th Century: Students will learn what life was like for children in the 18th century compared to modern day using reproduction artifacts, clothing-and games! Ages 8+.
July 2 - Haunted Dover Tour: Who you gonna call? First State Heritage Park...that's not quite right. But our interpreters are ready to take you on a tour filled with ghost stories, hauntings and more. Hear the tales of the supernatural around the Dover Green. Please wear proper shoes and outdoor clothing. Ages 12+
July 16 - True Crime Walking Tour: The Dover Green has been the heart of the community since its founding over 300 years ago: a peaceful oasis in the city, surrounded by fine homes and shady trees. You might never guess from its appearance that this historic half-acre has seen more than its fair share of intrigue and murder, hidden stories that this walking tour will dredge up from the darkness of the past and bring into the light. Secrets never stay secret in a small town. Please wear proper shoes and outdoor clothing. Ages 12+
August 6 - Lenape Culture & Lifeways: Using items and replicas, staff will discuss the Lenape tribe of Delaware and how they lived pre-contact such as foodways, housing, language, and games. Ages 8+.
