About this Event
Adventure Play Past and Present - a conversation
Come join us at Hackney Museum on Thursday April 25th at 6.30pm for a lively discussion about the evolution of adventure play. We'll be exploring how play has developed over the years and sharing stories of our own experiences. This event is a great opportunity to connect with fellow play enthusiasts and learn more about the history of adventure play in Hackney.
There will also be an opportunity to see our current exhibition "Celebrating Hackney's Adventure Playgrounds."
Speakers: Mick Conway. Keith Cranwell. Sianead Crawford.
Mick Conway started his playwork career on Bermondsey adventure playground in 1978. He went on to become Director of Hackney Play Association where he was a founder of Playday, created the Quality in Play system and was a consultant on development of the Playwork Principles. He also helped set up London Play and Play England.
Keith Cranwell previously headed up the Department of Education and Community Studies at Greenwich University. His interests lie in education for playwork and he developed the BA in Playwork and Youth Studies with the University of East London. A Londoner from birth, Keith has a fervent commitment to improving understanding and provision of children’s play in an urban environment.
Sianead Crawford is a playwork enthusiast who grew up as a child playing in the woods and as a teenager on adventure playgrounds. She is now a senior playworker across two boroughs - site manager at Homerton Grove adventure playground and senior playworker at Somerford Grove adventure playground. She thinks that she has the best job in the world and can talk about play for days!
