Adventure Awaits - Weeding & Trash Cleanup for the Birds at Snook Islands

Help prepare this restored nesting island in Lake Worth Lagoon Estuary for the return of protected shorebirds this spring.
About this Event

Duration: 2 - 3 hours depending on site conditions

Meetup Location: Southern end of Bryant Park at the fishing pier

Parking: 100 S Golfview Rd, Lake Worth Beach, FL 33460

Additional Information: Volunteers will take a boat ride from Bryant Park over to the Snook Islands just south of the the Lake Worth Road bridge. Once on the islands, volunteers will help pick up trash and pull vegetation of varying sizes with some needing to be dug out. ERM will provide shovels and garbage grabbers and bags.

What to Wear: Dress to get dirty and your feet will get wet. We recommend wearing water shoes or old tennis sneakers. Flip flops and crocs are not recommened as there could be sharp rocks submerged in the water. Wear sun protection. (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, SPF shirts)

What to Bring: Water will be provided so bring a re-usable water bottle. ERM will provide all of the tools including work gloves, however, they are a one size fits all and may not be the easiest to work with. If you have your own gardening or work gloves, we recommend you bring them.
