Destination: Tarpon Cove Restoration Islands in Lake Worth Lagoon Estuary
Meetup Location: Monceaux Park, 2994 S. Flagler Drive, West Palm Beach, FL 33405
Join us as we prepare restored islands in Lake Worth Lagoon Estuary for the American oystercatcher and other protected shorebirds for their springtime return to nest, forage and raise their young.
Duration: 2 - 3 hours depending on site conditions
Details: Volunteers will be will transported by boat to the islands. Once on the islands, volunteers will help pick up trash and pull vegetation of varying sizes with some needing to be dug out. ERM will provide shovels and garbage grabbers and bags.
What to Wear: Dress to get dirty and your feet will get wet. We recommend wearing water shoes or old tennis sneakers. Flip-flops and crocs are not recommended as there could be sharp rocks submerged in the water. Wear sun protection. (Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, SPF shirts)
What to Bring: ERM will provide water (bring a re-usable water bottle) and all of the tools including work gloves, however, they are a one size fits all and may not be the easiest to work with. If you have your own gardening or work gloves, we recommend you bring them.
