FREE EVENT - REGISTRATION OPENS 12/16 @ 12PM
Kick off the New Year with a hike through a One-of-A-Kind Natural Area! Join us as we unwind and connect with nature. We will explore Sweet Bay Natural Area with the Site Manager and Plant Steward. We will hike approximately 2 miles through this 1,094-acre natural area that consists of flatwoods, wet prairie, hammock, and dome swamp ecosystems. We will hike to the center of the wetlands which holds a tree island full of sweetbay, dahoon, coastalplain willow, and pond apple trees. Hopefully, we will get a look at some of the wading birds that roost here. We will be hiking on some uneven terrain and may get our feet wet. We hope you join us as we start the New Year surrounded by the flora and fauna of Sweet Bay Natural Area.
Please no pets or unaccompanied minors. This site does not have restroom facilities.
WHAT TO BRING:
- Water bottle (and water)
- Hat and sunscreen
- Insect repellent
- Appropriate clothing (hat, hiking shoes/boots, long-sleeved shirts and pants for bugs)
