Join us for a W**d Pull & Paddle. We will paddle out to one of the islands at Winding Waters Natural Area. You will help us remove non-native invasive plants to help us restore the island. We will provide sit on top kayaks. Kayaks provided are all single kayaks, therefore, this event is not recommended for children that cannot paddle alone.
The quickest growing invasive plants are the toughest to keep up with. Hand pulling is the most environmentally friendly way to get rid of them, but requires a lot of people.
Get the joy of working along a local biologist as we remove some of the most invasive weeds in Palm Beach County. Water, snacks, gloves and tools will be provided.
WHAT TO BRING:
- Water bottle
- Hat and sunscreen
- Insect repellent
- Appropriate clothing (hat, hiking shoes/boots, long-sleeved shirts and pants for bugs)
Please no pets or unaccompanied minors.
Where to Meet: The parking lot for Winding Waters is located at 6161 Haverhill Road, 33411 located within Dyer Park. Google Map Link
What to Wear: Dress to get dirty and your feet will get wet. We recommend wearing water shoes or old tennis sneakers. Wear sun protection. (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, SPF shirts)
What to Bring: Water will be provided so bring a re-usable water bottle. ERM will provide all of the tools including work gloves, however, they are a one size fits all and may not be the easiest to work with. If you have your own gardening or work gloves, we recommend you bring them.
This site does not have any restroom facilities.
