The Festival Chorus will present “Advent’s Holy Light” on Saturday, December 6th. Special guests include the Lancaster Presbyterian Church Bell Choir under the direction of Mr. Glenn Tanner. The service will be held at 4:00 pm at the Lancaster Presbyterian Church at 5461 Broadway in Lancaster. This service will be open to the public and tickets are available for $15, or $10 for seniors and students.Across the Christian world, Advent is the four-week season of preparation for the celebration of Christ’s birth. These four weeks are marked by themes of hope, peace, joy and love. The Advent’s Holy Light service will include readings related to these themes coupled with moving choral selections such as Of the Father’s Love Begotten and I Hear the Prophet Callin’. As part of each theme a candle is lit, culminating with the lighting of the candle of love on the Sunday before Christmas day.
Tom Rutter, talented pianist, will accompany the choir. The Festival Chorus is a choir of community members from a wide variety of backgrounds and religious beliefs, making this an ecumenical service.
Director, Heather Lovelace, is looking forward to the event. “I have always found the readings and music of Advent to be extremely moving,” says Heather. “I believe this service will be a culmination of emotions represented in Word, music, and the symbols of light and hope.”
