The St. John Paul II Schola Cantorum directed by Steve Quebral will present an Advent Service of Lessons & Carols on Wednesday, December 17th at 7:00 pm at Ss. Peter and Paul Church at 5480 Main Street in Williamsville. The Service of Lessons & Carols is a cherished tradition that weaves together scripture, prayer, and choral music to prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ. It presents nine scripture readings with sung responses that tell the story of salvation from the fall of man in the Garden of Eden to the coming of the Messiah in Bethlehem. Through the prophetic readings and beautifully sung carols, the story of salvation unfolds — from humanity’s longing for redemption to the promise of a Savior. The St. John Paul II Schola Cantorum is an independent, “a cappella” choir dedicated to preserving, promoting and performing sacred choral works from the great treasury of music of the Catholic Church. Their repertoire ranges from Gregorian Chant to masterpieces of sacred polyphony from the Middle Ages to modern times. Works by Rheinberger, Praetorius, Handl-Gallus, Lauridsen and others will be performed. A free will offering will be accepted to support the ministries of Ss. Peter and Paul Parish. For more information, contact the choir by email at [email protected] or follow them on Facebook and Instagram @JP2Schola. Subscribe to their YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/@JP2Schola.
