Welcome to Advent & Christmas at Wheeler UMC. This event is a helpful overview of the services offered to bring peace, joy, reflection, and healing to our hearts during this meaningful season. Advent is the time leading up to the birth of the Christ Child, his coming, or advent into this world. It also indicates the belief that Christ will come again. Each Sunday in December, the 10 AM Sunday Worship is designed to lead us through the month of December, through the season of Advent, to the celebration of the Birth of Christ, and to make fresh the knowledge that Christ will return. Christmas Sunday falls on December 29. There are separate events for many of these special services, so check those out on the Wheeler United Methodist Church facebook page. Dec 8-Wheeler Chancel Choir Cantata 10 AM
Dec 15-Second Sunday in Advent Worship 10 AM
Dec 14-17 Drive by Living Nativity Scene in front of the building 6-8 PM each evening
Dec 22 Third Sunday in Advent Worship 10 AM
Dec 22 The Service of the Longest Night, a service of healing and compassion 630 PM
Dec 24 Christmas Eve Service
5 PM Family Service, all children present are invited to dress in a provided costume and walk in to their place in the Nativity Story during the service. No speaking parts for children.
11 PM The Service of Lessons & Carols- ring in Christmas Day with the bells in the tower at midnight following this sacred and ancient service. Children are welcome, but no nursery is provided.
Dec 20 Christmas Sunday Worship at 10 AM
January 4- The church will worship in the Family Activity Center as we vision for 2025 and celebrate the New Year that has come. A Traditional Wesleyan Love Feast with hot chocolate and cinnamon rolls is provided during this 10 Worship Service.
All services except 11 PM Dec 24 includes a learning nursery option and Grace Space inclusive worship setting for PK-Gr 5 friends. The building is fully accessible from the Sanders Street entrance. 8:45 complementary breakfast each Sunday, small group Bible Studies for all ages at 9 am. Youth Groups meets at 6 PM with Evan Davidson, Director of Youth Ministries. Holiday schedule may be adjusted for youth, contact Wheeler UMC with any questions about youth schedule.
