Our Wilderness First Responder is now available as a hybrid course. This involves three phases that must be passed in order. Phase 1 can be taken by itself for students who only wish to complete a standard WFA certification. Phase 1 + Phase 2 can be taken in order for students who only wish to complete an advanced WFA certification:
Phase 1 ONLINE – Standard Wilderness First Aid Certification (WFR Prerequisite)
Phase 2 ONLINE – Advanced Wilderness First Aid Certification (WFR Part 1)
Phase 3 ON-SITE (in person) – Wilderness First Responder Certification (WFR Part 2)
The Advanced Wilderness First Aid (AWFA) Certification is an online course that consists of 24 hours of lectures, demonstrations, live Q & A’s, quizzes and homework. This course picks up where the standard WFA leaves off, and covers new topics as well as more depth in topics that were introduced in the Standard WFA.
Passing the is the prerequisite to take the AWFA course.
Students receive an Advanced Wilderness First Aid certification card from Emergency Care and Safety Institute at the successful completion of this course.
This course also is required for and prepares the student for the on-site, 3-day Wilderness First Responder certification for those who intend to complete a WFR.
The 3 day on-site training is also included in the intensive course in 2023 - students taking the HOME course will not need to attend the separate 3-day WFR Certification course to complete their certification.
Students in the AWFA course receive the Wilderness First Aid Field Guide (hardcopy) which makes an excellent addition to any field first aid kit. Additionally, students receive materials via mail that they will use to practice techniques and demonstrate competency in selected hands-on skills taught in this course.

- Bandaging, Splinting and Taping II
- Advanced Wound Management in the Field
- Building Med Kits
- Clearing the Spine
- Tourniquet Conversion

COURSE INFORMATION
Dates: The 90 day access period begins on May 8th, 2023.
Location: This course can be taken from anywhere you have an internet connection.
International Shipping: There are additional costs involved with shipping course materials outside of the US. If you are located outside of the US, please contact us upon registration so we can help you with shipping arrangements. International students are responsible for the expense of shipping their own course materials.
Registration is limited to 40 spots and is first come first serve. Registration closes on May 22nd, 2023 at 9pm central time.
Skills Testing Date Options (central time zone):

*Students will be required to attend one of the 3 available evaluation sessions over Zoom in order to receive their certification.
