Niagara Glen is a rocky, mossy, spiritual wonderland full of geological and energetic magic. This is a long hike through moderate terrain with some steep scrambling, rocks, roots, and slippery sections close to rapids - categorized as advanced mostly due to the cognitive challenge and endurance required to hike for a full day through uneven terrain.
Pace: moderate with some stopping for photos at specific spots close to potholes, boulders, hidden perches and the whirlpools of the Niagara River to take in the scenery, drink & snack, chat with fishermen, check out unique geology, flora/fauna, rock formations, fossils, and if desired, climb rocks/ ropes and lookouts.
*Appropriate hiking footwear REQUIRED, which means no sandals or sneakers without treads.
*Please bring food and drinking water (2-3L recommended).
*Furbabies should stay at home this time.
*Bringing your own trail map and GPS capabilities highly suggested, in case you need to get back on your own.
* Parking is 8$ an hour, a day pass or year pass, so, carpooling is GREATLY encouraged.
**Due to the technical nature of this hike, by attending, you acknowledge that:
- you are hiking at your own risk, and all leads, attendees and park systems are NOT liable for injury.
-you will listen to and follow all instructions provided by your guide to transition and move on when asked. You will not walk ahead or branch off to scramble without explicit instruction to do so.
- you will not map out the route and replicate this unique expedition for the purpose of leading it for another hiking group. There are many versions of this hike online to share with others, and we encourage you to visit the Glen again with people you love. However, this particular route was lovingly constructed with a lot of heart and effort, and we hope you will respect the work of volunteers who wish to share their unique take of the trails with members of their community. Community Trust is an important way to keep hardworking volunteers motivated to keep giving their time and energy. Thank you!u
