Program Presenter, Advanced Sandtray Therapy: Dr. Joni Batts, LMFT, RPT-S
Content Description: This training is designed for the play therapist in agency, private practice, or school setting who already has a basic understanding of history, rationale, and theory behind Sandtray therapy and would like to increase their skills with advanced training. We will cover a deeper exploration of sand tray materials, advanced understanding of neurobiology and Sandtray, working with special populations (including but not limited to refugees and immigrants, military families, abused and neglected children, neurodivergent populations, couples, families, other dyads, etc.) in the Sandtray, and exploring the person-of-the-therapist in the Sandtray process. Participants will participate in experiential activities throughout the training.
Behavioral Learning Objectives:
- Demonstrate an advanced knowledge of Sandtray material selection, placement, and usage in Sandtray and play therapy sessions.
- Describe the basics of brain structure and the neurobiological benefits of utilizing sand and the sand tray process.
- Identify and discuss person-of-the-therapist role and potential issues during each step of the six-step Sandtray process.
- Analyze 2-3 different theories and their integration with Sandtray therapy.
- Describe at least three considerations and unique attributes when working with special populations.
- Identify at least 3 prompts that can be utilized when working with dyads such as couples or parents and children.
Training Schedule:
8:30-9:00 a.m. : Sign-In
9:00-12:00 p.m. – Advanced Sandtray Therapy - Part One
12:00 – 1:00 p.m. - Independent Lunch
1:00 – 4:00 p.m. – Advanced Sandtray Therapy - Part Two
4:00 p.m. - Conclusion of training – completed participant evaluations required in order to receive CE certificate
Refund and Cancellation Policy:
Connect Counseling Center, LLC will make every effort to work with you and resolve issues related to refunds or cancellations. Due to the nature of this training, materials will be purchased prior to the training for the purposes of experiential activities. Therefore, we are not able to offer a refund within 48 hours of the date of the training unless the refund is requested due to unforeseen illness. We also incur a processing fee for the training and may ask that you retain the processing fee at the time of refund.
