This fly tying class will be kept to a maximum of 6 due to vises available, or you can bring your own fly tying vise. This session will require the following materials:
FLY PATTERN: Tom's Lightbulb
Hook: Size 1 Gamakatsu SC15
Thread: White 210 Flat Wax
Eyes: Medium Bead Chain
Collar: Medium Pearl Palmer Chenille
Head: Medium Opal/Pearl Chenille
Body: Medium Opal/Pearl Chenille
Tail: Mirage Opal Polar Flash
Gills: Flashabou Glow Pink (This can be hard to find so a good substitute is Pink Krystal Flash)

History: Tom’s Lightbulb was created by Tom Shadley of Mangrove Outfitters in SW Florida. It was originally tied to fish the dock lights at night for Snook. The fly had a glowing material added to help intice the toothy critters that lurk in the darkness. Originally tied on a size 1 Shrimp hook it has since evolved and can be tied on any short shank hook from sizes 4 to 1/0.
