What started as a clever way to block curious eyes became a bold folk-art movement, turning rowhouse windows into vibrant canvases and everyday streets into open-air galleries.

Instructor Bio:
Michael is a Baltimorean who worked in the field of community development for fifty years. In 2006, he started dabbling in two-dimensional art mainly with charcoals and ink. In 2010 he rediscovered Baltimore’s painted screens and started painting screens for family and friends. His work has grown over the years. He now holds regular workshops introducing this beautiful Baltimore folk art to anyone who will listen. He is a member of the Hamilton Art Gallery and is connected with the Creative Alliance, the B and O Railroad Museum and the Maryland Center for History and Culture where his work is regularly shown.
