This presentation is a general overview of Adult Protective Services (APS) in Montgomery County, Ohio. APS works to protect our seniors from abuse, neglect, self-neglect and exploitation.

Topics discussed during this presentation are: signs of elder abuse, how to report, the role & goals of Adult Protective Services, and the guiding principles that impact service delivery to those at risk. The presenter(s) will also provide clarification on common misconceptions of APS and will share both case examples and success stories.

1. Recognize at least 3 signs of Elder Abuse

2. List at least 3 criteria for being at risk and how to make a referral

3. Explain the Role of Adult Protective Services and what to expect when reporting

4. Describe how the APS guiding principles impact service delivery.


CEUs

Montgomery County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services has been approved by the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board to offer continuing education credit hours to Counselors and Social Workers (Provider #RCS111304) and the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board to offer recognized clock hours to Chemical Dependency Counselors and Prevention Professionals (Provider #50-17863) and has approved this training for 2 hour of CEUs.
