Join us at the farm to try out the historic tradition of basket weaving. Learn from a local master basket weaver, Elwood Donnelly with over 25 years of experience in the craft. During this class, participants will create a basic small berry basket to take home. Learn the fundamentals and history behind basket weaving to start on your weaving journey. All participants must be over the age of 14. Materials will be provided. Together, they have produced 14 recordings, which receive international airplay, 8 books, and have been part of multiple compilations. Their travels have taken them to 38 states in the US, as well as Ireland, England and Canada.
Throughout those years, Elwood has set aside space to learn traditional crafts, one of which is basket weaving. Since his first weeklong workshop in Brasstown, NC at the John C Campbell Folk School in 1998, and soon after at Kentucky Music Week, Elwood has continued to learn and create baskets at home in Warren, Rhode Island.
