About this Event
Baptist Health is pleased to present this national, evidence-based training at no cost to the Northeast Florida community.
IDENTIFY - UNDERSTAND - RESPOND
Mental Health First Aid empowers individuals to identify, understand and respond to risk factors and warning signs of mental health and addiction concerns - critical skills in the best of times, but now more urgent than ever given our national health, economic and political landscape. Additionally, participants learn:
- a 5-step action plan to help someone developing a mental health problem or someone in crisis
- where to turn for support - professional, peer and self-help
- topics covered include depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, addiction disorders
How virtual MHFA works:
Step 1: complete 2 hours of self-paced, online coursework
Within 72 hours of registering, participants receive an email from the MHFA Learning Management System (LMS) detailing how to create an account and access the course
Step 2: attend the scheduled live, instructor-led Zoom class (7 hours) taught by two MHFA-certified, NE FL instructors
Attendees need an internet connection and a computer with a microphone and webcam to participate in group discussion and breakout sessions. Participants are expected to keep their video cameras on throughout the class.
***A three-year certification is awarded upon course completion.***
