IDENTIFY - UNDERSTAND - RESPOND

Mental Health First Aid empowers individuals to identify, understand and respond to risk factors and warning signs of mental health and addiction concerns. Participants also learn:

  • a 5-step action plan to help someone developing a mental health problem or someone in crisis
  • where to turn for support - professional, peer and self-help
  • topics covered include depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, addiction disorders

The course also teaches about recovery and resiliency – the belief that individuals experiencing these challenges can and do get better, and use their strengths to stay well.

Participants earn a three-year certification upon completion.
