About this Event
Adult Mental Health First Aid (AMHFA) teaches people how to recognize signs of mental health or substance use challenges in adults ages 18 and older, how to offer and provide initial help, and how to guide a person toward appropriate care if necessary.
Topics covered include anxiety, depression, psychosis and addictions.
Once you are certified in Adult Mental Health First Aid, you will be able to:
- Identify the common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges.
- Identify the common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges.
- Interact with a person in crisis.
- Connect a person with help.
- Reduce stigma.
- Use a 5-step action plan to help a person who may be facing a mental health problem or crisis, such as suicide.
Participants earn a three-year certification upon completion.
