Comfort, familiarity and, potentially, fluency with Hebrew opens the door to participation in Jewish prayer and community. While one can live a full and rich Jewish life only hearing and not understanding or reading Hebrew, Hebrew is the language of our liturgy and our tradition.
Whether you want to become more comfortable with prayers or texts in Hebrew, are parents and grandparents helping their children and grandchildren or simply are interested in Hebrew, this course will focus on letter and vowel recognition, decoding, and reading multi-syllable words. A follow up class, Prayerbook Hebrew, will be offered in the spring.
