Adult Education: Filmmaking Class
Ready to unleash your inner Spielberg? Join us at Auburn Public Theater Stage Right on October 16, 2025 at 6:30 PM (Eastern Time) for a hands-on six week filmmaking class! Learn the basics of camera work, lighting, and editing from filmmaking professionals. No experience required, just bring your creativity and passion for storytelling. See you there!
- Students have a chance to create pre-written shorts to learn the ins and outs of independent filmmaking
- Shorts will be 2-4 minutes each
- Learn how to use Black Magic 4K Pocket Edition Cameras, a cinema quality camera taking the industry by storm
- Learn to use light boxes, lamps, boom poles, shot-gun mics, audio recording devices
- Learn pre-production design
- Learn post-production editing on Davinci Resolve, a robust free movie editor for those who prefer a more extensive software than iMovie.
- Prepare a final movie screening like it was your own film festival; invite family and friends to see your final short film in our 65 seat movie theater with a 4K laser projector.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTORS
Juliette - Juliette's passion for filmmaking dates back to her middle school years, filming skits on her tiny digital camera. Now twenty-something, Juliette has graduated from Cayuga Community College and Ithaca College and has written and directed three award-winning student short films that have been screened in Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, and all over CNY. When not plotting her next script, she can be found editing wedding photos and videos through her company, Juliette Zyg Picture Studios.

Theodore - Regulary behind a camera for his own production company, Roland Films, Theodore has been filmmaking since high school, directing and acting in short-films with his friends. Earning his bachelors degree in Cinema Studies from SUNY OSWEGO UNIVERSITY, Theodore is excited to bring his technical experience to the table for adult students wishing to learn the inside-outs of camera technology, lighitng, and more! He can be seen regularily producing videos for community events such as Auburn Chamber Orchestra concerts.
