About this Event
The workshop starts with a guided tour of the stunning Mackintosh At The Willow historic building followed by the jewellery workshop.
In 'The Salon De Luxe' we will view Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh's gesso panel ' O ye,all ye who walk in wildwood' this will be the starting point for our visual inspiration.
In the workshop we will experiment with continuous line, colour composition and beading to create a silver brooch.Sterling silver and a variety of semi-precious stone beads including amethyst, flourite, rose quartz and lapiz lazuli will be provided and can be woven into the brooch.
- 10.30 Welcome and tour.
- 11.15 to 1.15 Jewellery workshop. Sketch, design and experiment with wire using jewellery tools, such as hammers and pliers.
- 1.15pm break for scones, cream and jam with tea or coffee which is included with the ticket price.
- 2- 4pm Jewellery workshop to make the brooch in sterling silver and semi- precious stones . All materails are provided in the cost.

What to expect :
- Be inspired by Margret Macdonald Mackintosh's work.
- Quick drawing and design exersizes.
- Experiment with Jewellery techniqies in wire.
- Use hammers and steel blocks to create different thickness of line in wire.
- Make a mock up then final brooch in sterling silver wire.
- Learn to attach a brooch back.
- Design and compose semi-precious beads into different colour combinations.
- Learn about stone properties.
- Small class of 10 participants
- Take home a silver brooch to wear!
