ADRIAN UTLEY
Adrian Utley is a musician, a producer, and a member of the band Portishead, with Beth Gibbons and Geoff Barrow. His early musical work involved performing jazz with bands such as Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers. Portishead, formed in the early nineties, are best known for their haunting trip-hop sound and the album Dummy, which was released thirty years-ago, in the summer of 1994. The highly acclaimed record features the hit singles Sour Times and Glory Box. It reached number two in the chart and won the Mercury Music Prize in 1995. They released three further albums, 1997's Portishead, 2008's Third and a live recording in 1998, Roseland NYC Live.
Adrian has collaborated with artists such as Marianne Faithful, Alison Moyet, Philip Selway, Massive Attack and Bat for Lashes, as well as having composed for various film and TV productions. Further details on him and the band are at www.adrianutley.com and www.portishead.co.uk
GARY LANGAN
Gary Langan is a cofounder of the renowned electronic pop group The Art of Noise, with Trevor Horn, Anne Dudley and J. J. Jeczalik. Their most well known songs include Close to the Edit and Moments in Love, from the album Who's Afraid of the Art of Noise?, released forty years-ago, in June 1984. Other hit songs include Kiss featuring Tom Jones. The group's second album, In Visible Silence, the last to feature Gary, included Peter Gunn featuring Duane Eddy.
As a recording engineer, Gary has worked on many classic songs and hit singles. They include Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody and We Are the Champions, The Buggles' Video Killed the Radio Star, ABC's Poison Arrow and The Look of Love, as well as Owner of a Lonely Heart by Yes.
