About this Event

HOSTED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CAROLINA HOUSE TRUST

Adolescence is the phase of life between childhood and adulthood, from ages 10 to 19. It is a unique stage of human development and an important time for laying the foundations of good health. However, adolescence can also be a confusing time for young people and possibly very challenging for those caring for them.

We know that during adolescence there are significant changes in the brain development, which may give rise to some of the reasons why this period in a teenager’s life can be challenging. We also know that for teenagers in the care system, there can be additional pressures placed on them.  This Workshop focuses on why adolescence matters with an emphasis on understanding the challenging behaviours of teenagers and how to support their emotional health and wellbeing.

Being a carer for a teenager can be an incredibly rewarding but often challenging experience. The teenage years are a period of constant change for a young person which can often lead to challenging behaviours. Personally, you may experience a roller coaster of emotions during just one day - particularly if your child or young person is behaving in ways that are difficult to understand or manage. This Workshop has been developed to give you an understanding of what might be going on inside the head of your teenager and how to support them.
