ADHD and Women: Misunderstood, Misdiagnosed & Moving Forward for Change
Advertisement
Discover the nuances of how ADHD presents itself differently within women, and tips on how to manage your neurodiversity. Followed by Q+A
About this Event

From 2019 to 2021, there was a 3200% increase in women who took online ADHD tests. The condition presents differently in girls and women, and as a result often flies under the radar - with only 1 girl being diagnosed for every 10 boys.

This talk will explore how females with ADHD are missed, misdiagnosed and misunderstood. We will discuss important topics such as adult ADHD, getting diagnosed later in life and insights from the Conversations with Women with ADHD campaign. You will learn why females with ADHD present differently to males - including the popular notion of ‘masking’.

This event will have an emphasis on collective healing, with tips to create your own ADHD Owner’s manual and how to move forward with self acceptance, compassion and implementing positive change.

Doors open at 7pm, talk starts at 7.30pm - come down early to grab a good seat!

Sam has spoken at over 40 organisations to date and hosts the Utopia podcast where she uncovers hidden stories of neurodivergence across culture, race, high achievers, parenting, and learning disability. Her work received multiple nominations of Stereotype Buster and Community Choice Awards at the 2022 Celebrating Neurodiversity Awards.
