Join Michael Sullivan to discover more about the British Army's involvement in the conflict in South Yemen.
Michael Sullivan is a former Army Officer, born in Leeds over 72 years ago, he was also educated there, until joining what is now The Yorkshire Regiment, at the age of 18. Early service saw involvement in conflict zones in Aden (Yemen), Dhofar (Oman) and Londonderry (Northern Ireland), between 1967 and 1971.
Although many years were spent on Active Service, Michael also passed on his professional knowledge and expertise by training others, during postings as an instructor at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, the Infantry Training Centre, The Army Apprentices College, the Zimbabwe Military Academy and the US Army Joint Readiness Training Centre. On retirement from active service, aged 55, he then worked for two years as a teacher at York St John University, before returning to the military fold as the Curator of the York Army Museum, in Tower Street, before final retirement on his 65th birthday
