Join us on Saturday, December 4th to kickstart the Adelaide opposition to the far-right anti-vax movement. In disturbing scenes in recent months,
Trumpian far right protesters have rallied on the streets of capital cities, using threats of violence to intimidate supporters of public health measures - measures that have saved lives during this pandemic.
In Melbourne, these so-called "freedom" rallies brought a gallows complete with noose to the Parliament House, with speakers calling for the hanging of ALP Premier Daniel Andrews, as a penalty for health measures in Victoria. These rallies found support in high places - with Liberal party MPs and ministers attending the protests.
The far-right has more in its toolbox than just racism - violent opposition to the left, social-democratic governments and their social policies is a key part of the far right’s agenda and is a hallmark of fascist movements throughout history.
This is a threat that needs to be taken seriously by all unionists, left-wingers, and those on the side of health and social solidarity. We need to:
- Make it clear what these rallies represent
- Start organising a political opposition
We will meet at 1pm in Rundle Mall for leafleting people with info about what these "freedom" rallies represent, hearing from anti-fascist, pro-vax speakers, and starting to form links between like-minded activists.
What to bring:
- your mask
- a smartphone to check in (manual check in will also be available)
- your anti-fascist, pro-vax friends!
