Adapting Avalon: Screenplay Adaptation with Tara Isabella Burton and Chris White

Greenville-based production group Studio Fifteen recently optioned award-winning author Tara Isabella Burton’s most recent novel ‘Here in Avalon’ (Simon & Schuster).
The book, described by The New Yorker as a “fairy-tale-inflected thriller” is about two sisters who encounter a captivating yet possibly dangerous underworld cabaret theatre cult that challenges their perception of reality.
Burton is now co-writing the screenplay with Studio Fifteen’s Chris White (‘Electric Jesus’) who will direct after his next film, ‘So Long Farewell’, a screwball music-comedy slated for production later this year.
As part of the 2025 Furman Film Festival, Burton and White will discuss their screenwriting collaboration and plans for seeing the movie made in the coming year. A moderated audience Q&A will follow.
