About this Event

The Garden District Book Shop, in partnership with Shudder as part of their 10th anniversary celebration, is thrilled to announce that author Adam Cesare, who is in town for the Overlook Film Festival, will be at the shop on April 5 for an author event and signing for his Clown in a Cornfield series. The signing will be ahead of his movie of the same name screening at the Prytania Uptown at 6:45 PM.

The event will begin at 5:00 PM and Cesare will sit down to discuss his works and answer any fan questions. Afterwards, he will open up the floor to a Q&A and then personalize copies of his books. The bookshop’s bar will be open for all guests to imbibe and pregame for the 6:45 screening. The event is free and open to the public but interested parties can reserve their copies of his book on Eventbrite.

Clown in a Cornfield

In Adam Cesare’s terrifying young adult debut, Quinn Maybrook finds herself caught in a battle between old and new, tradition and progress—that just may cost her life.

Quinn Maybrook and her father have moved to tiny, boring Kettle Springs, to find a fresh start. But what they don’t know is that ever since the Baypen Corn Syrup Factory shut down, Kettle Springs has cracked in half.

On one side are the adults, who are desperate to make Kettle Springs great again, and on the other are the kids, who want to have fun, make prank videos, and get out of Kettle Springs as quick as they can.

Kettle Springs is caught in a battle between old and new, tradition and progress. It’s a fight that looks like it will destroy the town. Until Frendo, the Baypen mascot, a creepy clown in a pork-pie hat, goes homicidal and decides that the only way for Kettle Springs to grow back is to cull the rotten crop of kids who live there now.
