Have you ever asked 'What's next?'
From climbing the career ladder to finding the perfect partner, from building a family to booking a holiday, good things never fully satisfy.
But one weekend can change that. Two thousand years ago something happened that can bring love, peace, significance, security, freedom, meaning and happiness into your life now, on a deeper, more permanent level than you ever imagined.
The death and resurrection of Jesus meets our deepest needs.
- "How one weekend can give you everything you ever wanted", by Graham Albans
Psalm 22
Psalm of the Cross
Info: Considered the "Psalm of the Cross" and is the most graphic depiction of pain, abandonment, and suffering, with the opening line "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" directly quoted by Jesus on the cross.
The imagery of being surrounded by enemies, pierced, and mocked are seen as prophetic of the physical torment Jesus endured, and is prevalent throughout the psalm.
Despite the despair, the Psalm ends with a note of hope, signifying ultimate redemption and praise to God.
Psalm 23
The Shepherd Psalm
Info: The "Shepherd Psalm," known for its comforting imagery of Jesus as a loving shepherd who provides for and protects his sheep.
Verses like "He makes me lie down in green pastures" and "He leads me beside still waters" represent God's provision and care in times of peace and hardship.
This Psalm is often used to offer comfort and reassurance in times of personal struggle.
Psalm 24
The Celebration Psalm
Info: Depicts Jesus as the King of Glory, entering the temple with power and majesty.
The imagery of "lift up your heads, O you gates" signifies the triumphant arrival of the King, who is worthy of all praise and worship.
This Psalm can be seen as a celebration of God's ultimate authority and dominion over all creation. God sent His Son Jesus to redeem and set free human beings from the bondage of sin because He loves this world.
