Our annual in-person event to equip, inspire and encourage you at whatever stage you're writing. (Includes AGM)
About this Event

Every year, we love to gather to invest in ourselves, in our own writing and to seek God for his wisdom, guidance, inspiration and creativity for the next step. We do this together because writing can be a lonely business and we need one another's support and encouragement to keep going through the winter months.

This Autumn Gathering will be a time to glean from our speakers and each other, to store up words like wheat at harvest, ready to sow them generously when the time comes.

Theme: Zoomed Out

As we write, we are a part of a bigger story: God's Story. This weekend we will take time to seek God and ask where our story fits into his bigger story and what has he got for us next? Paul will share insights and behind the scenes tid-bits from his own writing story and give us some practical ways to ask God: what next?

Friday Night (Optional)

7pm-9:30pm

At The Rugby Hotel, Sheep Street, Rugby, CV21 3BX

At Rugby Hotel we will gather in the Warwick Suite for an evening of relaxing, mingling, and inspiration. There will be enterainment provided by Annmarie Miles (Vice-Chair of ACW) and Susannah Hallcroft (script-writer and actor) and a literary quiz with prizes (so brush up on your classics!). This will be followed by a real special treat: a reading, story-telling and sing-a-long music from Bryony Wood taken from her book-based show "The Sound of Musings".

Plus: there will be a dessert buffet with the option to buy your own drinks. (The hotel does have a restaurant so if you want to check-in early and grab yourself some dinner, I am sure you won't be the only one so please book a table in advance. Other restaurants and food establishments are also nearby).

The hotel has offered all our attendees a preferential rate so please phone them to book your room, stating that you are a part of the Association of Christian Writer's event. This way you can relax for the evening, safe in the knowledge that your bedroom is only a few steps away.

The hotel does offer parking and details will be sent to you after you have booked.

Saturday's Main Event

10am-4pm

At Rugby Elim Church, Cambridge Street, Rugby, Warwickshire, CV21 3NQ

Paul Kerensa will deliver a talk and an interactive workshop in the morning on our 'Zoomed Out' theme.

There will be a long lunch (included in the price) where you can sell your books and buy books from other ACW members. You can meet other professionals in the writing world as well as writers.

After lunch, members will gather for the 45-minute AGM.

This will be followed by a practical workshop. You can choose from the following 3 workshops:

  • How to create spin-offs from your book with Bryony Wood
  • Ready, Set, Write! 15 ways to generate your next idea
  • Writing your story down in memoir

The afternoon will finish with the chance for the ACW-affiliated groups to gather and share their feedback from the morning. If you're not in a group, you can find a nearby or genre group to join for the day. There will also be opportunity to pray together in our groups, as you feel comfortable.

Shuttle runs will be available to take you back to your car or the train station (booking required, nearer the time).

Please see the agenda and FAQs for more details.

The biggest issue with the venue is parking which is why we have arranged a shuttle bus so that you can arrive by train or park near the train station and enjoy our free shuttle service to and from the venue. Alternatively, you are welcome to park on Clifton Road, which is the closest street without parking restrictions and only a 2-3 minute walk away.
