Advocate for the Respect and Care You Deserve in Healthcare
Black moms, your voice matters. Learn to speak up and claim your space in healthcare settings at the ACTT for Safe Motherhood Workshop, presented by The Black Coalition for Safe Motherhood and held during Babypalooza.
This workshop is grounded in the ACTT model—four powerful steps you can use to improve your healthcare experience and outcomes:
- Ask questions until you understand the answers
- Claim your space—physically and mentally
- Trust your body
- Tell your story
OB/GYN physicians Donna Bennett, M.D. and Sharon Bush-Coaxum, M.D. of FBL Physicians, along with birth doula Nia James, will lead the workshop. This interactive session will help you practice advocating for yourself, role-play conversations with medical professionals, and build confidence to ensure you and your loved ones receive the respect and care you deserve during prenatal, birth, and postpartum care.
The ACTT Workshop is open to everyone in the Black community—whether you are preconception, pregnant, postpartum, or supporting a loved one through their healthcare journey.
