About Our Presenters
Wayne Grau, Director, NCART
Wayne started his career in the Home Medical Equipment industry in 1990 when he went to work for Pride Mobility Products. Wayne was a regional sales manager, and he continued to be promoted and assumed new responsibilities that included legislative affairs. Wayne was promoted to Director of Rehab Industry Affairs and began working exclusively with Complex Rehab companies. He was also appointed to the National Coalition of Rehab and Assistive Technology (NCART) board of directors.
Wayne left Pride Mobility Products to work on a congressional campaign in 2008. After the campaign, he went to work for a group purchasing organization (GPO). The MED Group was purchased by a larger healthcare GPO, and Wayne was asked to lead their legislative efforts across many post-acute care industries.
Wayne finished his MBA in healthcare at Baylor University and assumed a new position with MK Battery in sales, marketing, and legislative affairs. After a successful period with MK Battery, Wayne was asked to lead NCART. He is excited to work exclusively with Complex Rehab Manufacturers, Providers, and the individuals we serve using CRT equipment.
Karla Sonderland, OT
Karla Sonderland graduated with a master's degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Mary in North Dakota. She has 20 years of experience with a focus on individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She brings to the team her knowledge and understanding of providing 24-hour care to individuals with multiple caregivers as well as helping individuals transition to alternate living arrangements with optimal assistive technology to ensure their safety and participation. Karla lives with her husband and three children in Iowa and manages the Midwest Clinical Education program.
Alex Chesney, OTR, ATP/SMS
Alex Chesney is the clinical sales manager of the Midwest South Region for Quantum Rehab. She provides educational services as an occupational therapist, assistive technology professional and seating and mobility specialist. Alex graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor’s degree in multidisciplinary studies and a minor in psychology in 2011. She earned her master’s in occupational therapy from Texas Woman’s University in 2013. Alex practiced occupational therapy in a top neurological inpatient rehabilitation center in Houston, TX, treating those with traumatic spinal cord injuries and various neurodegenerative diseases.
As a clinician, Alex prescribed advanced seating and mobility technologies and served as a primary education resource for best practices within neurological rehabilitation. Alex previously served as a committee chair for the Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals and continues involvement as a committee member. She is the vice president and occupational therapy coordinator for Rehabilitation Services Volunteer Project, providing free neurological therapy services to those underserved in the Texas area.
Rusty Jones, ATP
Rusty Jones is a RESNA-certified Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) who has worked in the complex rehabilitation technology industry for more than 25 years. As a previous member of the advisory council for the Oklahoma Healthcare Authority, Rusty has been a long-time advocate for the continued care and reimbursement of those Oklahomans who need assistive technologies.
Originally working with a durable medical equipment company that served patients on home oxygen, Rusty eventually founded his own company in 2000. It was in this successful venture that he found his true passion: working with those who need quality assistive equipment that keeps them moving. Rusty joined Action Seating & Mobility in 2014.
Rusty has built countless relationships and friendships with clients and helped countless people with disabilities find the equipment that gives them the freedom and independence to not only be mobile, but that allows them to continue to work, be involved in the community, and enjoy life to its fullest.
Rusty attended Northeastern State University majoring in Electronic Engineering and attended Respiratory Therapy School at College of the Ozarks graduating with a degree as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
Heather Price, OTR, ATP/SMS
Heather Price, OTR, ATP/SMS, is a Regional Manager at Stealth Products. She also provides clinical education to therapists and DME providers under the Quantum Rehab education team. Previously, in clinical practice, Heather gained experience in wheelchair seating, positioning, and mobility at two nationally ranked rehab hospitals, TIRR Memorial Hermann in Houston and Shirley Ryan AbilityLab in Chicago. At TIRR, Heather was an Occupational Therapist on the inpatient spinal cord injury team. She gained extensive experience in custom wheelchair prescription, training, and seating and positioning. As the Wheelchair Skills and Management Specialist at SRALab, Heather helped develop a new program for inpatient clients of all ages with a variety of diagnoses. The program featured extensive wheelchair trials, evaluations, and instruction on advanced wheelchair skills.
Dan Fedor, Director, Reimbursement & Education, U.S. Rehab
Dan Fedor has been in the HME industry for more than 25 years and currently serves as the compliance director for VGM and US Rehab members. He is available to assist members with documentation requirements, audits, and compliance for mobility products. He is a graduate of Penn State University where he earned a BS in Economics with a Business minor. Dan joined VGM in 2014, and before that, was the director of Education and Compliance for Pride Mobility Products Corp. for 13 years. Prior to joining Pride, Dan served as a senior manager for Professional Relations and Electronic Data Interchange for the Jurisdiction A DME MAC (United Healthcare) for nearly six years.
