Six week photography workshop with Khali Ackford
How can oppressed, marginalised people tell their story if the press is controlled by powerful interests?
Photography, the tool of the powerful, can be your way to tell a counter narrative to the ‘official’ version of events.
Activism Through The Lens is a six week photography workshop led by one of Bristol's top activist photographers, Khali Ackford.
Khali has taken some of the most iconic Bristol images of the Black Lives Matter movement, including the fall of the Colston Statue, K*ll the Bill, and many more. With examples from his own work, Khali will explore how to elevate subjects through photography, how photography can support communities under threat, as well as giving practical tips on how to improve your photography skills.
The sessions will also include field trips to cultural institutions, on location shooting, Q&As with activist artists. and practical tips on how to use different techniques to make political statements through your work.
The sessions are suitable for beginners and intermediate photographers.
