Active Learning in Digital Spaces (F2F)

Description:

Mastering the Flipped Classroom – A guide for Online and In-Person Teaching

This workshop series is designed to equip faculty with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively implement the flipped classroom model in both online and in-person settings. Through a blend of lectures and hands-on activities, you’ll learn how to structure a flipped classroom, create effective videos, and develop active learning strategies. Each session will provide personalized feedback to help you refine your approach. For those interested, we offer the opportunity to collaborate on research, collecting data from your courses to contribute to academic publications.

Active Learning in Digital Spaces

In this workshop, we will discuss active learning strategies for the online classroom.

Activity: Create your own active learning assignments.

Facilitator:

Dr. Dr. Josh Morris, Associate Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry and CTE Faculty Fellow for Online Teaching and Learning

In the CTE, Dr. Morris champions innovative online education methods, including the flipped classroom, student-created videos, and diverse active learning strategies.

Dr. Morris has produced over 300 educational videos for his YouTube channel “Real Chemistry,” the University System of Georgia’s eCore program, and the online private school “MiaPrep”. He shares his video creation expertise through workshops and one-on-one consultations. Additionally, Dr. Morris is developing a comprehensive training program for Georgia Gwinnett College faculty who teach online. He also leads the Faculty Learning Community on Excellence in Online Education, where he guides faculty through research projects focused on the science of teaching and learning.
