Location: McKnight Art Center, Room 210
Kristin Beal, Curator of Public Practice at the Ulrich Museum of Art, will be moderating a panel discussion with Jill Anholt, Sijia Chen, and Joseph O’Connell - the artists chosen by the City of Wichita to add beauty and aesthetic improvements via public sculpture art to the grounds of the Wichita Northwest Water Facility.
Jill Anholt is an award-winning artist based in Vancouver, Canada whose practice includes commissioned environmental and sculptural installations, and collaborative design team projects for public spaces across North America.
Sijia Chen is a multimedia artist specializing in painting, sculpture, installation, and public art. She holds an M.F.A. degree from Tyler School of Art at Temple University and a B.F.A. degree from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in China.
Joseph O’Connell is the founder and artistic director of Creative Machines – one of the world’s largest design and fabrication firms led by a single artist. He grew up as a protégé of Thomas Edison’s former shop foreman, learning first-hand how to assemble creative teams to move from concept design through fabrication and installation.
We hope to see you there!
